Muthoni Drummer Queen - Million Voice

Citation:

Propos du titre (Source Geniius.com):
MILLION VOICE is inspired by the determination, tenacity and drive of millions of ordinary, everyday people from immigrant communities doing whatever it takes to create a meaningful impactful life in spite of, or maybe because of the circumstances in their host countries.
Here in Kenya, as in many parts of the world, immigrant communities often have to work twice as hard and with much less structural support to put together a decent life for themselves and their families, including the ones who are left behind in their homes of origin.
The lead character of Million Voice is a 24 year old Somali girl whose family fled to Kenya after Somalia's civil war in 1992. Though she is born and raised in Kenya, the system continues to classify her as an outsider because of her parents original refugee status.
This song captures her anger and frustration at the injustice of a system that keeps her an outsider even as it bene ts from her communities material contribution, while also praising her people for succeeding against the odds.

Paroles :
[INTRO]
Hungry, hungry, hungry, hungry African boy
Hungry, hungry, hungry, hungry African boy
Hungry, hungry, hungry, hungry African boy
Hungry, hungry, hungry, hungry African boy

[Chorus]
The mandem make some noise
Like a million, million voice
All the mandem make some noise
With a million, million voice
Can't stop I, won't stop I
With a million, million voice
Can't stop I, won't stop I
With a million, million voice

[Verse 1]
This one dedicated to my people building something
Working hard to make sure that as children we lack for nothing
So when you people come around and treat us like were basic
I just want to LOL and tell you to consider all your options
Caution, natural , distortion
You can't even kill us we survive even abortion
Say we cannot make it, watch us how we make it
Watch us in a minute come and run and overtake it

[Pre-Chorus]
Can't have enough of this
This our only way of life
Keeping on the grind, Keeping, keeping on the grind
Keeping on the grind, keeping, keeping on the grind
Can't have enough of this
This our only way of life
Keeping on the grind, Keeping, keeping on the grind
Keeping on the grind, keeping, keeping on the grind

INSTRUMENTAL BREAK

[Chorus]
The mandem make some noise
Like a million, million voice
All the mandem make some noise
With a million, million voice
Can't stop I, won't stop I
With a million, million voice
Can't stop I, won't stop I
With a million, million voice

[Verse 2]
Can I be your leader
Can I be your ceaser
If I show you how to make some more will you pledge alligence?
Is it always either
Me or you or neither
If I show you where I'm coming from will you take a breather?
Cos what you'll find – what you'll find
What you'll find – what you'll find
What you'll find guarantee will blow your mind!
I'll blow your mind- I'll blow your mind
I'll blow your mind- I'll blow your mind
And then you'll know the reason I stay on my grind

[Pre-Chorus]
Can't have enough of it
It's our only way of life
Keeping on the grind, Keeping, keeping on the grind
Keeping on the grind, keeping, keeping on the grind
Can't have enough of it
It's our only way of life
Keeping on the grind, Keeping, keeping on the grind
Keeping on the grind, keeping, keeping on the grind

[Chorus]
The mandem make some noise
Like a million, million voice
All the mandem make some noise
With a million, million voice
With a million, million voice
With a million, million voice
With a million, million voice
With a million, million voice

Muthoni Drummer Queen - KENYAN MESSAGE

Citation:

Propos via Genius.com
KENYAN MESSAGE is a witty evaluation of the Kenyan socio-political condition as of January 2017 that was largely inspired by the Kenyan doctors strike-turned into-movement for better health care systems in Kenya, which, went unresolved for 100 days despite the devastating effect it had on Kenyans.
The lead character, a Kenyan female doctor addresses the political class and citizens of Kenyans equally, questioning the state of the Kenyan society and highlighting the endless political and economic scandals plaguing the country.

Kenyan Message pays tribute to the classic “The Message” by DJ Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. Sadly, 35 years after “The Message” its message rings true in the Kenyan context, with seemingly no resolution in sight.

PAROLES :

[Verse 1]
Tangu ile siku tuku-elect, haushikagi simu man 'tuwezi connect
Nimekuwa nikisaka an appointment
Nimekuwa niki-suffer disappointment
Siku hizi si hukuonaga kwa telly
Sisi maubao, wewe lunch hoteli
Panganga panganga na ma-pot belly
Conmen, watchmen wanakupangia wakikusalimia
Na we huwezi notice hata huwezi dhania
Siku hizi country yote venye kuna njaa
Kila mtu anafikiria tu chapaa

[Hook]
Don't push me 'coz I'm close to the edge
I'm trying not to lose my head
(Ni kama jungle sometimes mimi hu-wonder mbona sijaenda under) X4

[Verse 2]
Na wale wana dooh ni one percent
Si huwaonanga siku ya kulipa rent
Sisi hukuanga ndani ya predicament
Biggest spender government and church officials
Na miracles zao so artificial
The congregation wako so superficial
Wanataka ule Mungu mu-beneficial
Unofficial kitambulisho unaweza get in a few days
Unaweza get in a few ways
Unaweza get bila delays
Nowadays hosi hakuna ma-doctor
Na gava haijali juu sisi wagonjwa tukienda private tuta-pay so ni obvious nani ana say

[Hook]
Don't push me coz im close to the edge
I'm trying not to loose my head
(Ni kama jungle sometimes mimi huwanda mbona sijaenda under) X4

[Verse 3]
Hakuna dooh ka mafuta ya Waarabu
Lakini pia dooh kwa futa si ajabu
Vile kina Sep Blatter wamepakua dooh ka bufett kwa platter
Na vile sisi hupendanga news
Na vile sisi hupeaga views, ma-likes, ma-shares, kuji-amuse
Na world affairs, ma-world issues siku hizi ni za social media
Modern daily, encyclopedia
Kufuata hawa ma-socialite wakienda Naija ku-socialize

[Hook]
(Don't push me coz im close to the edge
I'm trying not to loose my head
Ni kama jungle sometimes mimi huwanda mbona sijaenda under) X4

[Outro]
We can't breathe (no)
We can't breathe (no)
We can't breathe (heh)
We can't breathe (huh...)

Citation:

Propos via Genius.com
SUZIE NOMA is a former sugar-baby
who decided to change her life and start her own hair salon business. Suzie and Muthoni met in their early 20s and Muthoni made Suzie a promise that if she ever went into business, she would invest in it. Fast forward a few years later and Suzie is nally changing her life and Muthoni has made good on the promise and the song is written in the days before the launch of the salon and at the point where Suzie's new dream to become the master
of her own destiny is manifesting into reality.

Muthoni Drummer Queen Baby- No More

Citation:

PROPOS
No More tells the story of a weary lover who finds herself in yet another argument with her husband of 14 years after catching him in yet another lie. While it is clear that he has tried to leave before, something in the urgent, unrelenting gravel in Muthoni's voice leaves us convinced that this time, she is really going to leave him.

PAROLES :

Allez , car cela m'est fort plaisant, prestation live :

Muthoni Drummer Queen - Live (full concert) @ Trans Musicales de Rennes 2018

Citation:

Concernant cet artiste visuel,

Citation:

Dear Mathilde

In addition to being yourself, they will expect you to be a good girl, grow into a good woman

As you will soon discover, there is no such thing as a good girl or a good woman

There is, however, such a thing as you. Such a thing is true, and forever is good

Practice your smile. You will need it. It will be your strength and your mask too

You must learn how to kick. How to punch. How to push

You must work twice as hard. You must be twice as smart

To be a woman is a full time job, for the half the pay. And even then, not always

You will discover your inner gangstar

You will learn to out-run, out-do. They will label you bad girl

You will learn to be un-moved

Invent your identity. Remember necessity is the mother, so as need be, change it

Your body is your home. Your throne. Adorn it

And remember this, in whatever form, in whatever shape you may be

In whatever version of reality you find yourself in

You are a queen. The feminine energy of all of creation

You are of life and you are life itself

Goddess

Muthoni Drummer Queen - Power (2020)

"You always debate for a long time now. What a woman should make, what a woman should take. But you never ask the woman, what a basic mistake”
